Rainbow Six Siege presents its Demon Veil season content and roadmap for Year 7

Ubisoft’s hit game, Rainbow Six Siege, is preparing to launch its seventh year after six years of good and loyal service. On the occasion, the French firm held a live during the final stages of its Six Invitational, with the aim of presenting all the novelties that will appear during the next season named, Demon Veil.

Azami, a spicy operator

Let’s start with what all gamers are looking forward to, the new operator. Azami will arrive in Rainbow Six Siege as a supporting advocate. His clothing style is greatly inspired by the Japanese police. His gadget is called Barrier Kiba, and it allows Azami to throw kunais that create bulletproof surfaces through a chemical reaction. However, don’t panic about his trump card, as it can be easily countered. Indeed, any explosive can overcome it, and three shots with the butt can destroy it.

Ubisoft revealed that this new character was created for the sole purpose of radically changing the way we play. The last big game changer came with the arrival of Mira in season one year two, Velvet Shell. So it’s been five long years since the meta of Rainbow Six Siege has not greatly evolved, and Azami comes to put a big kick in the anthill. In addition, the new defender will be armed with Kapkan’s machine gun, as well as Maestro’s and Alibi’s shotgun, and will have two points in speed and health.

New map, new mode, …

After presenting the new defender Azami, Ubisoft continued its direct by revealing the many changes that will make their debut with Demon Veil. First of all, for the first time in three years, a brand new map will make an appearance in the middle of the next season. The latter is called Emerald Plains, and will be located in Ireland.

Then, the Deathmatch mode will finally come to the official servers during this season one after spending a long month on the test servers. It is considered a training mode, in order to warm up before leaving for ranked games. Ubisoft has also announced that it will continue to update this mode, including adding new maps. In addition, the replay mode will finally be available on console.

Thirdly, Attacking Agent reselection will finally make its way to Siege. This new mechanic allows attacking players to change operators and gadgets only during the preparation phase. This is in line with the “game changer”, and will allow to have a better strategic approach on the ground, for the attackers only.

Quality of life and protection of players

In terms of quality of life additions, Ubisoft has been busy. First, Goyo will see his redesign coming and he will no longer have his pretty explosive shields because now only the explosive capsule can be placed on the ground and on the walls, and the latter has undergone a small improvement because its explosion zone is significantly larger. This change was applied in an effort to make the Operator more strategic.

Then, from now on, all weapons will have access to all the sights present in the game, without any restriction, and for people who are fond of cosmetics, Nomad will be given a magnificent elite skin called, Infinite Voyage. And finally, Ubisoft will implement several practices as part of the protection of users of Rainbow Six Siege. From Demon Veil, those who want to launch ranked games must have previously registered their phone number on their Ubisoft account. This practice takes place to prevent cheating and abused new accounts (Smurfs).

Year 7 roadmap

After showing us all the content coming in the next season, Ubisoft revealed the complete roadmap for the seventh year of the software. First, we will have a new operator at the launch of each new season, in addition to a Battle Pass. Thus, after Azami we will see an operator arriving from Belgium, Singapore and Colombia.

Speaking of operators, the developers have announced that they want to further develop the lore of Seatfocusing on the military aspect of the agents and on the interactions of the agents in game. At the same time, we learn that the Rainbow team is divided into several squads, with for example the Nighthaven group whose leader is Kali.

Then, Ubi wants to include a new map for deathmatch mode from season 2, and a competitive map for season 3, remains to be seen if it will be a brand new map like Emerald Plain, or if it will be an existing card in quick game modes. Moreover, the Permanent Arcade Selection will arrive in Season 4 and will make it possible to replay the old temporary modes with a rotation each week, and a shooting range will be born from the second season in order to test the recoil of weapons.

Speaking of hindsight, the developers are working on several accessibility features for console gamers, with in particular the change of FOV (field of vision), the adjustment of the speed of rotation of the camera, as well as a recoil specific to each weapon. On top of all that, how-to videos and simulations will be available in-game on all platforms, to allow beginners to try out and understand each operator.

Ranked 2.0 and reputation system

One of the major black points of Rainbow Six Siege is the so-called toxic community. To remedy this, for a year now Ubisoft has deployed a reputation system in the dark. In fact, from the second season there will be severe penalties for those who abuse friendly fire and reverse friendly fire. From season 3, the reputation system will go into beta mode before being deployed for good in season 4. In addition, a player with a bad reputation will have restricted access to game modes, Alpha packs, and will lose his access to the test servers.

Now let’s move on to the most important information in this roadmap, which is the 2.0 classified. In season 3 will arrive the redesign of the Ranked mode, which will bring a breath of fresh air to the game. With this new system, there will be no more placement games because we will all start at the bottom of the Copper ladder and we will have to climb the ladder. In addition, with each new rank passed we will earn various rewards.

And finally, the Year Pass reappears with a few changes. Indeed, the latter will have two formulas, a standard and a premium. The first formula will give access to four tokens to unlock the Battle Passes, a cosmetic set for Ash, the permanent challenges, as well as mysterious Bravo packs. As for the premium version, it will give access to the same but with a cosmetic set for Valkyrie and an exotic weapon skin, as well as obtaining Tier 20 for each Battle Pass. That said, we do not know what the price will be for these two formulas.

The first season of year seven, Demon Veil, will arrive on the test servers on February 21 on PCit will therefore be necessary to wait three to four weeks before seeing the update officially land on all media.
