After a few years when the novelties were more timid, Ubisoft wants to step up a gear in 2022, to increase new content in Rainbow Six: Siege, which just passed the peak of 80 million unique players. Thus, these next twelve months will be rich in novelties, to try to attract even more players and retain those who are already there.
2022 roadmap for R6
Regarding the content as such, four Agents will be introduced. Azami, with the first season of Year 7, then we will have the right to a Belgian Agent, one from Singapore and one from Colombia. A new mode will also be introduced with this first season, the team deathmatch, which will be permanent. As we also told you, three maps will be integrated this year, with the first, Country club, located in Ireland. We will then have a specific map for team deathmatch, and a competitive map, which will come later.
The other essential point for Ubisoft is to have a healthy and respectful community, to limit toxic behavior. In fact, the fight against cheating will be accelerated, the reputation system improved, while players abusing friendly fire will be punished.
As for console gameplay, the developers promise many improvements, including to customize the controls and the field of vision a little more. The general gameplay will be similarly reviewed, with several balanced Agents, including Zero, Bandit, Dokkaebi and Thatcher. Ranked 2.0 will also be introduced with Season 3. Unfortunately, focusing on all of this leads to the postponement of cross-play and cross-progression to the end of 2022. It will therefore be necessary to wait a few more months before being able to take advantage of these two highly anticipated features.
