Mourning for Rainer Basedow: The actor and voice actor died at the age of 83.

For many years he was on the theater stage and in front of the camera. The actor Rainer Basedow (1938-2022) has now died at the age of 83 as a result of a serious illness. His family confirmed this to the “Bild” newspaper. Accordingly, Basedow fell asleep peacefully in the presence of his loved ones after a hospital stay of several days.

After graduating from high school and studying German and sports at the Braunschweig University of Education, Basedow went to an acting school in Munich. There he discovered his passion for the theater and landed his first leading roles in various plays.

Basedow had his first film role in 1967 in the film “Wilder Reiter GmbH”. He became known to a wider audience through an engagement in the film comedy “Zur Sache, Schätzchen” (1968) alongside Uschi Glas (78). He then slipped into the role of sergeant Dimpfelmoser in the classic children’s film “Der Räuber Hotzenplotz” (1974).

Basedow later had numerous guest appearances in well-known television series, including “Tatort”, “Der Alte”, “Derrick”, “Der Kommissar”, “Der Bulle von Tölz” and “Alphateam”. In the ZDF series “Coast Guard” he embodied the role of paramedic Kalle Schneidewind from 1997 and was part of the main cast until the eighth season.

In addition, Basedow worked as a voice actor. Among other things, he lent his voice to the warthog Pumbaa from the Disney classic “The Lion King” and Al from “Toy Story 2”.
