Ostrock legend Ralf “Bummi” Bursy died on Monday after a “serious illness” at the age of 66.
Ostrock legend Ralf “Bummi” Bursy (1956-2022) died on Monday at the age of 66. This was confirmed by his wife Regina on Tuesday evening the “Bild” newspaper. “My husband fell asleep peacefully at home. He was seriously ill. I don’t want to say more about that,” she said accordingly.
A GDR rock star
As a rock singer, the Berlin-born musician was particularly successful in the GDR. With hits like “Eh die Liebedies” (1986) he sang his way into the hearts of fans. Until 1989 several albums were released by the GDR record producer Amiga. “I was particularly impressed by his skills as a skat player. We often sat together with Dieter Birr (77) from the Puhdys or Martin Schreier from Stern Meißen. In the end, Bummi often came out on top,” remembers the former head of the music label Jörg Stempel (65) according to the tabloid.
After reunification, Bursy withdrew from the public eye and worked as a music producer with pop singer Nena (61), among others.
In addition to his wife, Ralf Bursy leaves behind two children.
