Bodybuilding successes

Ralf Moeller was born as Ralf Rudolf Möller in Recklinghausen in 1959. As a sports enthusiast, he began training as a swimming master and swimming instructor. At the age of 17 he discovered another passion: Moeller switched from boxing to bodybuilding. In 1984 he became German champion, two years later he won the world championship "Mr. Universum". To this day he is one of the greatest bodybuilding champions at 1.96 meters. In 1989 he gave up professional sports and devoted himself to his acting career.

The eternal "gladiator"

In 1988 he made his acting debut with the crime scene "Broken Blossoms". A little later he was able to gain a foothold in the US film industry. In 1989 he played in "Cyborg", in 1992 he took on a role alongside Dolph Lundgren (63) and Jean-Claude van Damme (60) in "Universal Soldier" by Roland Emmerich (65). In 2000 he had his greatest success so far: In an interview with "Bild am Sonntag" he described his supporting role as gladiator Hagen alongside Russell Crowe (56) in the five-time Oscar-winning monumental film as "unforgettable". From then on, the German media liked to refer to him as "the gladiator". More than 40 appearances in films and series followed.

Friendship with Arnie

In 1992 Moeller moved to Los Angeles with his then wife, where he still lives today. Since April 2014 he has both German and US citizenship. In California, he maintains close contact with Arnold Schwarzenegger (73, "Terminator"), who was one of his role models at a young age, after all, he too became famous for bodybuilding and acting. The two have known each other for 38 years – but Moeller never benefited from the friendship, he recently emphasized in an interview with RTL. "I had to prove myself in front of the camera."

For the sake of health, he lives vegan

Thanks to his success, Ralf Moeller has become a popular advertising face, and he also uses his name to support charitable causes. Among other things, he founded the "Strong Types" initiative, which gives children in socially disadvantaged areas a positive attitude towards life. He is also committed to Skate-aid, an organization that supports national and international humanitarian projects for children and young people. In addition, he likes to communicate his healthy lifestyle to the outside world: The actor has been vegan for several years and supported a matching PETA campaign. "I don't want to convert anyone. But every now and then it doesn't hurt to think a few things about what you're stuffing into," he said in an interview with the "Abendzeitung".

Family cohesion despite separation

Moeller was married to his wife Annette for 23 years, at the beginning of 2013 it became known that the parents of two daughters were living apart. "Annette is a great woman and a fantastic mother for Jaqueline and Laura," said Moeller in a statement at the time. "As a family, we continue to spend a lot of time together with our daughters." At the end of 2017, his relationship with fitness model Justine Neubert broke down.
