During this interview, Jean-Marie Le Pen, 93, revealed in detail his reaction when he learned of the rallying of Marion Maréchal to the camp of the Reconquest candidate Éric Zemmour.
“I found it a little surprising and a little bit embarrassing. While his aunt was in the race in a way, that she intervened in a way that was necessarily divergent, ”he castigated.
“I’m not going to ask him to change his decision”
The ex-politician has all the same explained that he was not aware of the choice of his granddaughter. “We live in different places. We have different lives. (…) We meet, either by our own will, or by chance,” he explained.
Nevertheless, Jean-Marie Le Pen understands the choice of Marion Maréchal. “I think she weighed all her reasons and all her consequences, including on the family and sentimental level, she assumed her decision. I’m not going to ask him to change it. I did not intervene in this affair”, he added.
On a more personal level, the “Menhir” also mentioned his surname, “Le Pen”, which was still recently attached to that of “Maréchal”, his granddaughter having been called “Marion Maréchal Le Pen” for a time. . “Marion Marshal; she was born Marion Le Pen; she put my name on without asking, and she took it off without asking me.
