Famous for his duet with his lifelong accomplice Eric Judor, the actor’s career could have taken a very different turn if he hadn’t had a stint… in a psychiatric hospital!
“I didn’t want to join the army and so I did everything to be reformed” he had begun to explain to our colleagues from Raw in 2019 when he was asked about this amazing phase of his life. “I still did 3 months in the army and they released me. They told me ‘you are reformed but you are not going back to civil society, you are going to the civil psychiatric hospital!‘”, remembered the one who grew up in Gennevilliers, in the Paris region.
A step that he thinks he will pass without incident at first, explaining his situation. Serious error of judgement…”When I woke up without a shoe in the psychiatric hospital, I said to them ‘oh no but wait, I was just kidding, it was not to join the army’. And there they said to me ‘yeah yeah that’s it’ you will see a shrink in 15 days.” What happened to the comedian who explained that he saw a psychiatrist every 15 days for 3 and a half months.
A shock for the one who is now a father of four children. “There it changed my life, because the psychiatric hospital is not a good memory, he confided. At first you come home because you messed up a bit and then you ask yourself: am I really crazy or not. That’s where I read a lot, that saved my life. Read and stop hanging out with the crazy people. As soon as I opened the door, there were only eggs, it was screaming…” A dark period that Ramzy does not really deny and regrets even less. “Without all this I might not be here today” he concluded philosophically.
