Ransom note – arrest: 17-year-old threatened kidnapping

A Flachgau student (17) threatened to kidnap a 16-year-old and wanted to blackmail his parents. The police waited at the agreed handover location on Tuesday and arrested him. He confessed to the attempted blackmail and gave as a motive to have been inspired by films.

The 17-year-old deposited a ransom note in the Flachgau family’s mailbox in which he credibly implied by using non-public data that he would kidnap the family’s 16-year-old son. He asked for a high four-digit amount and named a delivery location for the money. The family apparently agreed, but the police were already waiting for the perpetrator at the handover location.

After the arrest, the student confessed to the attempted blackmail and stated that the motive was that he had been inspired by films. He had illegally obtained the personal data from a database at his school, which the 16-year-old also visits.
