Sido has already been caught smoking weed by his children. “They didn’t think it was cool,” reveals the rap star in a new interview.

Rapper Sido (“Mein Block”, 42) makes no secret of his passion for marijuana. In an interview with “Stern”, the artist, whose real name is Paul Hartmut Würdig, reveals that his four sons have already noticed his cannabis use. “My children saw me smoking weed, but the younger ones didn’t know for a long time that they weren’t cigarettes,” said Sido literally.

“They don’t want me to smoke”

“They don’t want me to smoke no matter what,” reports the star. The Berlin rapper has had experience with other, harder drugs in the past. Only last year, for example, did he state that he had consumed larger amounts of ecstasy, speed and cocaine during the 2020 corona lockdowns. Ultimately, this also led to the separation from his wife Charlotte Würdig (45), the mother of his two youngest sons.

Sido wants marijuana to be decriminalized

Even after these negative experiences, the 42-year-old does not want to give up smoking weed completely – and at the same time is promoting the legalization of the intoxicating drug. “There are 16-year-olds sitting drunk with alcopops at the train station. But the 30-year-old next to him, who is comfortably smoking a joint, is the criminal,” Sido describes the current legal situation in Germany.

In the interview, the musician and label founder also talks about the potential medical uses of cannabis. “It’s also really important to me to show that cannabis can do more than just get you high.” So he has “a good friend who has Tourette. With medical cannabis he can control his tics better.” According to studies, “treatment with cannabis could also make sense” for other clinical pictures, the rap star points out.

As an entrepreneur, he is therefore campaigning for the legalization of cannabis in Germany and, according to his own statements, plans to sell medical, legal cannabis with a newly founded start-up.
