Rated 4.1 out of 5: one of the best superhero films will have a sequel for 2026

Initially expected in October 2025, “The Batman II” saw its release postponed by a year. We will be able to see this DC film in fall 2026.

We will have to wait before seeing Robert Pattinson in the cinema again. While Mickey 17, his SF foray at Bong Joon-ho, has been postponed to January 29, 2025, the sequel to The Batman will also have to wait.

Initially expected on October 3, 2025 in the United States (and two days earlier in France), Matt Reeves’ feature film is postponed for a year and will now be released on October 2, 2026 (so September 30 here?).

More than four years will have passed between the releases of the first two parts of Matt Reeves’ trilogy inspired by DC comic books, in which Robert Pattinson succeeds Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck on the big screen.

The latest news was that the script for the sequel was not yet finished but filming was supposed to begin in August. According to a site which claimed that the date could still move. And so that’s what’s going to happen.

No villain announced

While James Gunn had recently calmed the ardor of scoopers of all kinds, by denying their information on the bad guys, the latter will therefore have to wait. And U.S. too.

Because filming should not begin before 2025 from now on. If Matt Reeves and DC Studios proceed as with the previous opus, which grossed $772 million worldwide, the cast and characters will be revealed before shooting.

But for the moment, it is advisable to be patient, because no villain has officially been announced. Even if Barry Keoghan suggests that his Joker will be back. Verdict in 2026 therefore.
