Rated 4.1 out of 5, this is one of the best series of the 2010s! It will change your outlook on forty-year-olds

Paramount+ has added the “Younger” series to its catalog, a little candy that will do your morale good. And it’s by Darren Star!

What do Sex and the City, Melrose Place and Emily in Paris have in common? A man, Darren Star. Prolific screenwriter and producer of the small screen, this American is behind a good number of hits which feature colorful and offbeat characters that we either love or hate.

In 2015, Darren Star returned to the forefront with Younger, a series adapted from the novel of the same name by Pamela Redmond Satran. We find all the ingredients he likes: a refreshing heroine, an important subject in our society (that of ageism), a little comedy, a touch queer

It follows a newly single mother from New Jersey who decides to lie about her age in order to give herself a better chance of finding work. With a little luck, and some makeup, she manages to look twenty years younger…

A glamorous casting

To find the one who would play its main heroine, Star didn’t look long. His choice fell on Sutton Foster, actress and singer of musicals quite well known in the United States:

“When I met her, I was really surprised that she was actually 40 years old. It was important for me to find an actress who was not around 35, but the real age of the character.

She is believable as a 26 year old woman on screen, she seems timeless. It’s not just a question of physics, it’s also about the confidence she exudes.”

The rest of the cast of Younger is not left out: those who grew up in the 90s with the Disney Channel series Lizzie Mcguire were able to find actress Hilary Duff on screen, in the role of Liza’s best friend (Foster). Nico Tortorella (Scream 4), Debi Mazar (Entourage) and Miriam Shor (Sex and the City) complete this very glamorous cast.

Critical and commercial success

With an average rating of 4.1 out of 5, Younger is Darren Star’s highest rated series by viewers on AlloCiné. They praise its endearing characters, the quality of its writing and its humor.

Darren Star has no equal when it comes to making his heroines shine by making them real working girls Or girl bumps who succeeds in everything (except romantic stories!). If you liked the atmosphere of Sex and the City, the second degree of Emily in Paris and modern romantic comedies (with the clichés that go with them), then you will inevitably fall for Younger.

With 7 seasons and 84 20-minute episodes, it’s THE series that will accompany you this summer and do you a lot of morale…

And you can see it on Paramount+!
