Rated 4.4 out of 5, one of the best science fiction films of all time will return to cinemas 45 years later… In France too?

This horrific saga has traumatized generations of spectators! While waiting for its return this summer for a 9th film, the first part will return to theaters… and no one will hear you scream!

At the cinema, no one will hear you scream! While waiting for the release of Alien Romulus on August 14, the first opus from 1979 will return to theaters in the United States on April 26. The saga’s official Twitter account announced the good news, stating that The Eighth Passenger would be returning to theaters for a limited time.

The franchise is now owned by Disney through the 20th Century Studios catalog. Contacted by us, the firm has no information regarding a re-release of Alien in France at the moment.

Fingers crossed that French fans of the viscous xenomorph can rediscover this monument on the big screen. “The most distressing of futuristic thrillers,” wrote Le Monde in 1979.

The most terrifying monster in cinema

As a reminder, the first episode of the saga was directed by Ridley Scott. Sigourney Weaver was the headliner.

The story took us aboard the commercial ship Nostromo. Its crew, seven men and women, return to Earth with a large cargo of ore. But during a forced stop on a desert planet, Officer Kane is attacked by an unknown life form, an arachnid which suffocates his face.

After the ship’s doctor removes the specimen, the crew smiles again and eats dinner together. Until Kane, seized by convulsions, sees his abdomen perforated by a living foreign body, which escapes into the corridors of the ship.

On August 14, a 9th part of the famous saga will see the light of day: Alien Romulus. 45 years after The Eighth Passenger, the franchise returns to its origins with this new feature film by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe).

After the commercial failure of Alien Covenant in 2017, Ridley Scott abandoned the slimy monsters to favor the biopic with Gucci and Napoleon. For many fans, the fact that the Briton is passing the baton to Fede Alvarez, a great horror specialist, is a very good thing.

The xenomorph is thirsty for blood

In this 9th episode of the Alien series, “a group of young people from a distant world find themselves confronted with the most terrifying life form in the universe”we read in the synopsis of the upcoming fiction.

The viscous and sticky xenormorph intends to make our little troop drool! Romulus should therefore return to the sources of the saga, in the manner of Prey, which reconnected with the tone of its illustrious elder, Predator.

Guest of the DGA Latino Summit 2023 in Los Angeles on October 17, Fede Alvarez revealed that he showed the film to Ridley Scott and that the latter loved it. “He came into the room, and he said: Fede, what can I say? F…this is excellent.”.

If you were traumatized by the drooling and teething of this mythical monster of pop culture, you can tremble, because at the cinema on August 14, no one will hear you scream…
