AMD’s strategy for monitoring its processors AM4 is still unclear, but the platform is clearly not abandoned.
A few days ago, a somewhat surprising rumor evoked the possible release of AM4 processors based on Zen 4 architecture. If the thing is not totally impossible, a new rumor comes to demolish it and insist on other approaches to the renewal of AM4.
A development of 3D Vertical Cache ?
According to our colleagues from TechPowerUp who cite several trusted sources, AMD could actually exploit more of its technique of 3D Vertical Cache to revitalize the aging platform.
Last April, we tested the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, the first processor to be equipped with said technology with rather encouraging results, especially in terms of video games. Rumor has it that AMD is expanding this range with the introduction of new references.
Among the advanced tracks, there would be talk of Ryzen 5 5600X3D, Ryzen 9 5900X3D and even Ryzen 9 5950X3D. These last two would then be equipped with a colossal cache of 200 MB (L2 + L3). On the 5600 side, this could give an inexpensive CPU very good for video games.
