RATP offers 1,600 to 2,500 euros JO bonus for metro and RER drivers

Negotiations for bonuses linked to the Olympic Games granted to metro and RER drivers of the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) ended on Wednesday April 24 with a proposed bonus of 1,600 euros, announced the unions and management THURSDAY. This bonus concerns agents who will work from July 22 to September 8.

It will be supplemented by an “exceptional event” bonus of 44.10 euros per day worked on 12 metro lines as well as the RER A and B during the competition periods of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, which could lead some driving agents to receive 2,500 euros in total. This system concerns 2,000 agents out of the 30,000 who will work during the Games.

The bonus of 1,600 euros will be reduced by 50% if an agent has five days of absence (for sick leave for example) over the period and will not be paid beyond five days of absence. Other measures are planned such as the possibility of shifting a maximum of 11 days of leave not taken in 2024 until September 2025.

During the Games, 19,000 RATP agents mobilized per day

In order to meet demand, the transport offer must be increased by 15% during the Olympic Games period (from July 26 to August 11) compared to a normal summer and by 30% on weekends. On certain metro lines, such as the 9 which must be particularly reinforced, “we have postponed 70% of vacations”specified the RATP to Agence France-Presse (AFP).

In total, 19,000 RATP agents will be mobilized every day. On average, Régie agents who will work during the Games (including station agents, maintenance workers, bus drivers, etc.) will receive a bonus of 1,000 euros, RATP also detailed to AFP.

Negotiations for JO bonuses are carried out on a job-by-job basis, but those concerning drivers are of particular importance because of their crucial role in the overall functioning of Parisian transport. Negotiations concerning SNCF agents are still ongoing.

In other sectors, the bonuses allocated to agents who will work this summer are already known. The police officers will receive a basic bonus of 1,900 euros accompanied by additional compensation for police officers displaced for at least five days on security missions or linked to the Olympic Games. At the Assistance publique-Hôpitaux de Paris, bonuses will range from 800 to 2,500 euros gross per week depending on the employment categories.
