FromSoftware’s masterpiece is now blessed with the light of ray tracing through the 1.09 update.

Already deployed, this allows you to magnify the Inter-Terres a little more, both on PC and on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

For ray tracing, hooray! But beware…

While Cyberpunk 2077 will soon go into Ray Tracing Overdrive mode with RTX Path Tracing, the Action RPG voted game of the year many times (and once again crowned as such yesterday during a GDC 2023 rich in announcements , especially on the side of Unreal Engine 5, Unity and NVIDIA) goes for its part in ray tracing mode. This feature will not be activated by default, and you will have to go to the game options to take advantage of it.

On the 1.09 patch notes, cited in source below, Bandai Namco of course warns of a potential performance impact of ray tracing. It will therefore be necessary to expect some loss of frames per second on consoles and on PC, depending on the configuration used. The publisher has also shared recommended configurations for this version.

Minimum system requirements with ray tracing enabled (1080p, low graphics quality and ray tracing)

  • Operating System: Windows 10;
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT;
  • Graphics Card: RTX 3060 Ti 8GB or Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB;
  • RAM: 16 GB.

Recommended system requirements with ray tracing enabled (1080p, high graphics and ray tracing qualities)

  • Operating system: Windows 11 (hey?);
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT;
  • Graphics Card: RTX 3070 Ti 8GB or Radeon RX 6900XT 16GB;
  • RAM: 16 GB.

A patch that will make you bleed

We can thus see that the recommended configuration recommends only Windows 11 as an operating system. This is, so to speak, a first. Indeed, games that are much more likely to be graphic showcases thanElden Ring continue to recommend Windows 10, even on Ultra configurations.

Anyway, this 1.09 update of course brings more than just ray tracing. Many balances have been deployed for the Player versus Player mode, expanded since the free update last December. FromSoftware also severely weakened bleed-based weapons and instead greatly strengthened other weapons or Ashes of War.

The talented Japanese studio promises thatElden Ring should receive more updates of this ilk in the future. But what the Shardless await with the greatest impatience (and apprehension?) is, of course, the arrival of the extension The Shadow of the World Tree, currently lacking an exit window or any details. In any case, we can’t wait to see what FromSoftware is preparing for us. torture to please.
