Razer unveils new Ornata V3 low-profile gaming keyboard

Razer announces Ornata V3 and V3 X keyboards low profile gaming adorned with mecha-membrane switches and marketed under the 100 € mark.

After the Ornata V2 released in 2020, Razer announces its replacement, logically called Ornata V3. The design of this keyboard gaming entry-level has been modernized to better integrate with the Razer catalog with dedicated multimedia buttons close to what we find on the Huntsman V2, in particular.

The backlighting is not as complete as on high-end keyboards, where it is adjustable key by key, and here you will have to settle for 10 zones. That said, some competitors only offer three to five zones on their entry-level models.

On the switch side, Razer relies on mecha-membrane hybrids offering typing sensations similar to mechanical switches. Make no mistake, the construction is very different and the responsiveness and cushioning remain those of rubber membranes. So don’t expect the same quality from good Razer or Cherry mechanical switches, to name a few.

The Ornata V3 is sold with a magnetic wrist rest, an appreciable element to improve the comfort of use, even if the design low profile (with thin keys) shouldn’t cause too much strain on the wrists.

The keyboard is available at a price of 100 €. It is certainly a little cheaper than the Ornata V2 when it was released, but the competition will be tough, with other brands offering real mechanical keyboards at this price. Razer also offers a more affordable version called Ornata V3 X, marketed at 50 €, but sporting classic membrane switches and an adjustable backlight on a single zone.
