Razer recently introduced its new mouse Viper V2 Pro which aims to be ultralight like no other mouse before it. But is the latter as light as it seems? Above all, is it suitable for gaming? In this test, we review all the characteristics of this mouse in order to give you an opinion on it.

First, let’s talk about the feeling of freedom when we have this mouse in our hands. Thanks to its wireless technology, the player will no longer be forced to struggle with his cable or pull it every 2 minutes, especially during FPS sessions or games that require a nice space on his mouse pad.
It can suit all hand morphologies whether you have very small hands or large paws. This is an important detail, because often wireless mice are very small and not at all suitable for gamers with much larger than average hands. We can take the example of the Orichi V2 mouse which happens to be too small for large hands, but adequate for smaller hands. When it comes to gaming, you can very quickly lose it from your hands after too sudden a movement. Our hand rests on the mouse and is not tense after several hours of use; clearly its shape is ideal for comfort of use. The Viper V2 Pro ticks all the boxes; ergonomics, comfort and lightness are the key words of this mouse.
The mouse is comfortable with an excellent grip. Its simple design allows it to blend into a masculine or feminine office, without any difficulty. It is halfway between dynamism and comfort like Razer’s Deathadder Elite mouse. However, if you feel that the mouse is slipping from your hands, you will have the option of adding self-adhesive grips to provide better grip. However, being an FPS player, I did not need these accessories, my mouse is always well in hand, despite my abrupt movements and nervous or tense firefights.
Small note probably useless, but the latter does not get dirty even if it happens to be white. Unless you eat with your mouse, there is no risk of seeing yellowing appear on the surface after a few days of use.
Is the promise of lightness kept?
The comfort is immediately felt, but what is striking is its lightness. While we thought we had known the lightest mouse on the market with the Clutch GM41 mouse from MSi, we must admit that the Razer Viper V2 Pro mouse easily surpasses it. While the MSi mouse weighs 65 grams, Razer’s mouse breaks all records with an ultralight 59-gram design.
For gamers who have already had light mice in their hands, the Razer mouse will not be a huge change, because unless you have a scale in place of your hand, the difference is slight. On the other hand, if you are used to mice on which you can add weights like the NP93 Neptunium Alpha mouse from Lexip or the G502 HERO from Logitech, the difference will clearly be felt.
Its lightness does not make it a fragile mouse. On the contrary, it resists small falls, but we don’t know if it can be due to an excess of rage after a direct throw against the screen or the wall (which we don’t advise you to do!) . All that to say that it is very resistant and even if it seems fragile in appearance, it is much more robust than one might think.
In terms of its life cycle, what does that say?
After a test of several weeks, we must admit that we were very surprised by the battery life. After a few hours of charging, you’re ready for approximately 70 to 80 hours of battery life. At night, it can stay on, the battery does not run out the next morning.
We use this mouse for office work in addition to gaming, so it’s used a lot, but lo and behold, in a week of operation, a single charge was all it took.
Also note that it does not have a battery-operated battery system, unlike Razer’s Orochi V2 mouse. It’s a huge plus, it avoids buying new batteries or waiting for the old ones to discharge. With the help of a USB-C cable (even the one from your phone) you can charge your mouse and even use it while it is charging, it’s a big plus for the less far-sighted.
Also note that MOBA players will have nothing to fear from the lifespan of the switches; you’ll have enough to do with 90 million clicks. The Summoner’s Rift will have better watch out, because you can click as many times as you want on the scuttlers or minions of League of Legends.
In terms of performance, what do we think?
This mouse may be wireless, but it is very precise and its 2.4 GHz connection is not lacking; by trying the mouse 5 meters from the desk, it remains very precise and always picks up the signal! Whether you are a player who does not like to move his mouse much, you will be able to enjoy the maximum sensitivity which reaches 30,000 DPI with a maximum speed of IPS of 750. However, as we know, a small percentage of players use this sensitivity, but it is good to know that the sensors range from 400 DPI to 30,000 DPI. The Viper V2 Pro mouse is very precise, there is nothing to say about it.
In the finish, some players may deplore the position of the DPI management button under the mouse. However, for having used a mouse with the DPI management button just below the wheel, in moments of action on FPS or even MMOs like New World, we tend to change its DPI without doing too much on purpose. So, in our opinion, this position is adequate to avoid missclicks.
On the other hand, players of survival games or MMOs will be able to deplore the number of buttons on the sides. Indeed, you will have no choice but to create binds with only two buttons. MOBA or FPS players may find these buttons largely sufficient, but MMO players will have reason to look disappointed.
If there is a negative point to give to this mouse, it is the discretion of the buttons. It’s a bias, but we tend to tangle our brushes in the middle of a game. An additional button just below the wheel would have been interesting whether for office automation or games, but the Viper V2 Pro relies on sobriety.
