Razer x Lambda Tensorbook: a Blade under Linux


Lambda, a solution provider for artificial intelligence, has teamed up with the American Razer to offer its Tensorbook, a powerful laptop based on Blade 15 but running Linux.

Razer has been selling its Blade laptops for about a decade, and from the start they have always been sold with a Windows operating system. This will not be the case with the Razer x Lambda Tensorbook, a $3,500 PC identical in every way to the high-end version of the Razer Blade 15 Advanced 2021 which, for the first time, will ship under Linux (Ubuntu). This machine is beautiful and very official, the result of a partnership signed with Razer.

Aimed at developers and researchers working in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning, this PC features an 11th generation Intel Core i7 processor, an Nvidia RTX 3080 Max-Q graphics card, 2 TB NVMe PCIe SSD storage 4.0 and 64 GB of RAM, all powered by an 80 Wh battery capacity and complemented by a 1440p and 165 Hz screen with a diagonal of 15.6 “. Professionals who will seize it will be able to count on complete connectivity: an HDMI 2.1 output, two Thunderbolt 4 compatible USB-C ports, three USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, an SD card reader and even Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.2 for connectivity. 35.5 x 23.5 cm for 1.69 cm thick and 2.02 kg on the scale.

Guaranteed software support

No surprise from the point of view of the components, but this machine all the same has its singularity: it is offered in a silver color where the Blades have a black anodized aluminum finish. In any case, it is interesting to see Razer take an interest in Linux again through this partnership, the American brand having often hypothesized to invest more in this ecosystem without this actually materializing.
