There Graphic card Radeon RX 8800 XT could slot between the current RX 7900 GRE and RX 7900 XTX.

Originally, it was only a rumor partly linked to the difficulties encountered by AMD with the current generation of cards, the firm having nothing to put in front of the GeForce RTX 4090.

In recent weeks, what was only a supposition has gained credibility with increasing sources and information which places the future Navi 48s around the Navi 31.

RDNA 4 before the end of the year…

Let’s be clear from the outset, there is no question of any official information from AMD yet. If the American company continues to talk about RDNA 4 and count on an upcoming release… we won’t know more.

As we said in the preamble, the current generation and AMD’s difficulties in offering credible competition to the GeForce RTX 4090 however suggest that the brand could skip the very high end to focus on the best-selling segments: entry and midrange.

Almost cryptically, informant All_The_Watts! had fun dropping tracks on X.com. The guy would have obtained details on the “equivalences” between the RDNA 3 generation GPUs that we know well and those of the RDNA 4 generation.

Not more powerful than an RTX 4070 Ti SUPER?

Thus, we learn that – supposedly, eh – the Navi 48 GPU which would constitute the most powerful of the RDNA 4 range would in reality be less robust than the Navi 31. In fact, the Radeon RX 8800 XT card which would be equipped with it would find itself behind the RX 7900 XTX.

Information which is similar to information previously published in our columns and which said that the RX 8800 XT would be at the performance level of the RX 7900 XTX, but for 50% of its price. In addition, the Radeon RX 8800

Downgrading requires, the Navi 44 GPU would obviously be inferior to the Navi 48, but more efficient than the Navi 33 which is used on the Radeon RX 7600. Conversely, it would be superior to the Navi 32 which we find on typical cards RX 7700 and RX 7800. We would therefore be in the presence of a GPU capable of competing with the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti.

Everything therefore suggests that RDNA 4 will be an opportunity for AMD to take a little “break” before starting again with a vengeance on RDNA 5. A technique that the American brand has already experimented with: RDNA 1 did not experience the very high-end and RDNA 2 was one of AMD’s best generations.
