Borussia Dortmund is in the final of the Champions League – and is writing “a great story”. The reactions to the big surprise are euphoric. There is pride, relief and anticipation of a big finale. Now the title should come.
Coach Edin Terzic: “That’s why we do it. It’s just pure joy and a lot of pride. We’ve grown with every game. (…) There’s always a team that manages to get into the quarter-finals or semi-finals, where it might not be on your radar, and that’s the team we wanted to be this year, and the journey has been incredible.”
Marco Reus: “Indescribable, what a week. Back in the final after more than ten years. Hats off, hats off, we had to suffer a lot. But we made it in the end. On Wednesday no one will ask how anymore. That’s just it Name Borussia Dortmund (…) Now we have to get it, otherwise it would be shit.”
Marcel Sabitzer: “It’s crazy. I don’t have the right words. The emotions are there, the goosebumps. We had a dream and we did it – we’re going to London. (…) We expected them before the game with high pressing. They were very good. We did a lot of dirty work, we worked hard and got there. It’s something special with this club. Before the season, everyone called our group the group of death , but we did it. The fans are so happy.”
Emre Can: “I’m very proud to be captain of this team. I’m touched, it’s incredible what we’ve achieved in this Champions League season. We all have the dream of winning it. There’s just one step left, us are in the final.”
Mats Hummels: “I didn’t score many goals in the Champions League. I think five. A good time to add something. We will face a very strong opponent. We all believe in it. We have believed that since the second game in the group stage at the latest “We can survive in the Champions League. We defended very actively. We tried not to let ourselves fall into our own box. After the 30th minute at the latest, you noticed how quiet it had become.”
