Are you a “Real Omnivore”? Do not you know? Then we’ll explain what’s behind it here.

How and what will we eat in the future? This is what Hanni Rützlers’ Food Report 2022 dealt with. It is completely logical that our eating habits also adapt to the current zeitgeist. In recent years, for example, the veggie shelves have exploded and additives are becoming increasingly frowned upon. Even if not everything is getting healthier in the supermarket (keyword energy drink boom), there is a clear trend towards healthy and sustainable eating. One movement that, according to the Food Report, will become increasingly popular over the next few years are the “Real Omnivores”.

Real omnivores – what do they eat?

According to the meaning of the word, everything first. Because omnivore means “omnivore”. But while the “omnivores” eat everything because they have classic eating habits, including high meat consumption, the “real omnivores” with their “I eat everything” attitude take on responsibility. And not just for yourself, but also for the planet. In doing so, they do not generally do without certain foods – their goal is to eat healthily and at the same time to protect the environment. To achieve this, they are particularly open to new food technologies. In-vitro meat, food made from insects, algae, mycultures, fish from cell cultures – all of this could be on your menu. True to the motto: I don’t try – there isn’t! The main thing is that it is good for me and the environment. When the “Real Omnivores” eat meat, they also eat the whole animal, so as not to “waste” anything.

And are you a real omnivore too? If so, according to the Food Report, you are totally trendy. And one thing is certain: as a responsible omnivore you have good arguments on your side when your next small talk is about sustainable nutrition. Let’s see what will end up on our plate in the future – we definitely wish you bon appétit!
