Reality star sentenced to 6 years in prison for particularly immoral scam

Jen Shah, one of the stars of the series Real Housewives of Salt Lake City¸ was sentenced to six and a half years in prison, reports Vanity Fair. The reason of this pain being his involvement in the orchestration ofa fraudulent telemarketing scheme. For the record, on March 30, 2021, the reality star was arrested while filming the show. This for two counts related to the management of a national telemarketing system targeting the elderly and those who do not know how to use a computer.

“I intend to impose a sentence of 78 months incarceration“, Judge Sidney H. Stein had said. In addition to this sentence, Jen Shah must also serve an additional penalty of five years of parole. His former assistant and close friend, Stuart Smith, had also been arrested the same day. The latter was charged with “money laundering and conspiracy to commit wire fraud“. If at the beginning Stuart Smith had proclaimed his innocence, he changed his mind in November 2021. He had notably confessed to having participated in a vast telemarketing plan thus defrauding hundreds of victims.

Jen Shah: “I want to apologize…”

During her trial, Jen Shah said thatshe would compensate all her victims. She had also assured that the benefits of her #FreeJenShah product would be entirely paid to the victims. “My actions have hurt innocent people. I want to apologize ensuring that I am doing everything I can to raise the necessary funds to pay the damages“, had declared Jen Shah. Jen Shah will have to give up $6.5 million and will have to pay $9.5 million in damagesaccording to the court’s verdict.
