Realme benefits from the strongest growth in the 5G smartphone market

Realme has become the fastest growing company in the 5G smartphone market in 2021. The manufacturer signs the strongest growth in Europe, far ahead of Oppo, Xiaomi and others.

Despite a timid start in 2019 with its Realme 3 Pro, Realme began to flood the smartphone market in 2020, multiplying models and ranges. The Chinese is also one of the first to really get into 5G smartphones, especially with the X50 Pro. In 2021, the firm continued on this path, even becoming the number one in terms of growth in this segment.

Growth driven by the GT range

In a recent study, the firm Counterpoint attributes to the manufacturer a global growth of 165% in the last quarter of 2021, ahead of Samsung (109%) and Xiaomi (98%). That being said, this booming growth can be easily explained. In 2020, Realme only had two 5G smartphones in its catalog. At the start of 2021, it offered 15 and doubled this figure at the dawn of the year, not without charging aggressive prices.

These figures are largely due to the development of the brand in Western Europe. Driven by the 8 series released in early 2021, Realme has been able to find a place for itself in this market, while the GT series has enabled the company to consolidate strong European growth during the summer. With a growth of 280%, it overtakes Oppo — “only” +70% in 2021 compared to the previous year.

In the 20 5G markets where Realme is present, the latter has managed to place itself in the top 5 in three years. A position that bodes well, especially since the brand intends to offer a good number of 5G models, including the 9 series. and GT 2 which pointed their antenna at the beginning of 2022.
