Realme takes inspiration from Apple with its own version of the Dynamic Island

Five months is the time it took before the Dynamic Island appeared on an Android smartphone. If the option caused a lot of ink to flow when the latest Apple iPhones were released, it did not find an echo among competing brands, which had already adopted more discreet hallmarks. It is therefore all the more surprising to see the functionality appear today from the Chinese brand Realme.

According to the leaker OnLeaks, well known to the community, a future smartphone from the Chinese company should adopt a dynamic notch that would take the name of “Mini Capsule”. A feature that is directly inspired by the famous Dynamic Island present on the iPhone 14 Pro. The whole would not be housed in a pill, but in a most classic punch. The short video posted by the leaker shows the operation as well as the size of this notch, which seems much larger than that retained by Apple on its smartphones. The only use case shown here is that of charging: the notch widens when connecting the USB-C cable, thus showing the SuperVOOC technology as well as the battery percentage. A short animation which is – necessarily – reminiscent of what we have already seen on iOS with the iPhone 14 Pro.

According to OnLeaks, the first Realme model to adopt this capsule would probably be a C-series smartphone, positioned at the entry level. It therefore seems unlikely that we will hear about this technology during the MWC in Barcelona which begins on February 27, during which the presentation of a GT3 model, a high-end device, is planned. It will take a little patience before we see Realme launch the dynamic notch race on Android. Unless the Chinese firm is the sole participant.
