Realme with 200 W charger: Fastest smartphone charging technology announced

When Realme sets off for the MWC in Barcelona, the manufacturer will not only have new smartphones but also new charging technology in its luggage. Nothing less than the “fastest smartphone charging technology in the world” has been announced. A leaked image of a charger seems to support this announcement.

  • Leaked charger can be charged with up to 200 watts
  • Realme wants to present the fastest charging technology at the MWC in Barcelona
  • The new Realme GT 2 Pro will not benefit from the technology yet

The MWC 2022 is just around the corner and Realme is probably already nervously raising their hooves. After all, you want to present great new technologies to the world. We expect the global launch of the Realme GT 2 Pro there, which has already been presented for China. But Realme has more to show and announces that it wants to take the quick charging crown at the MWC in Barcelona.

Quick charging with 200 watts?

On twitter the Chinese smartphone manufacturer announces “World’s fastest smartphone charging technology”. However, the company does not reveal much more. We remember last year on the subject: Realme itself pointed out its own UltraDart technology, which enables fast charging with 125 watts. However, this speed is not reached with published Realme smartphones. The new Realme 9 Pro+ charges with 60 watts, the Chinese GT 2 Pro with 65 watts.

But now the above picture has appeared, which shows a charger from Realme that can charge with 200 watts. So will Realme show us the first production-ready 200-watt charger in Barcelona? The picture shows the identification VCK8HACH and the reference to a maximum power of 200W (20V-10A). Furthermore, “USB PD” support is also mentioned, but with significantly lower power (45W at 15V-3A, 20V-2.25A).

This could put Realme at the forefront of development and even leave its competitor Xiaomi behind. With the Xiaomi 11T Pro, they raised the quick charging mark to 120 watts. But that’s not the end of the story for Xiaomi: Last year, Xiaomi announced its own 200-watt quick charging for 2021.

A battery with a capacity of 4,000 mAh is fully charged in eight minutes! Xiaomi also answered the question of how much this damages the battery: After 800 charging cycles, the battery still has 80 percent of its capacity! However, this technology is not yet on the market. So if Realme actually presents production-ready 200-watt charging at the MWC, Xiaomi could be left behind for the time being.

So let’s wait and see which charger bomb Realme will burst in a few days and which cell phone can benefit first. Do you expect that we will actually see a production-ready 200-watt charger at the MWC? And what do you think of it? Are you happy about such fast charging technologies, or are you more concerned about the durability of the batteries? Tell us in the comments!
