Between the State rebate on fuels, that of TotalEnergies, the different amounts and changes in the calendar, it can be difficult to find your way around when going to the pump. Le Figaro make the point.
Currently, the government rebate is 30 euro cents per litre, and the TotalEnergies rebate is 20 euro cents per litre. While these two rebates were initially to be reduced on November 1, they are finally extended by the same amounts until mid-November. Elisabeth Borne announced it on Sunday evening on the TF1 8 p.m. set, in response to the strike in refineries and fuel depots which caused prices to soar at the pump. Then, from mid-November, both discounts will be reduced. The State rebate will drop from 30 to 10 cents, and that of TotalEnergies from 20 to 10 cents. In the stations of the energy group, the cumulative discounts will therefore drop from 50 to 20 cents.

A “fuel allowance” for workers in 2023?
What about the rest of the calendar? On the government side, it is confirmed that the state rebate will end the 31st of December. “It will not be extended from January 1, 2023“, indicated Bruno Le Maire on RMC / BFMTV this Monday morning. “As of January 1, there will no longer be a general fuel discount“, he repeated.
But the executive could then pull out of his hat his “fuel allowancefor workers. A measure initially planned in the purchasing power package presented by the government last July, but finally abandoned to be replaced by the general rebate at the pump that we know today.

“If prices were to soar, we have planned in 2023 to help our compatriots who take their car to go to work, with targeted aid“Said Bruno Le Maire this Monday morning. If it were to see the light of day, this aid would concern employees, apprentices, public officials and the self-employed, and would be paid only to the most modest, according to the presentation made by the executive in July. It would amount to 100 or 200 euros depending on the income of the people. At the time, the government planned to match it with a bonus for high rollers, of 50 or 100 euros.
As for TotalEnergies, the rebate should also end on December 31. Contacted, the group did not provide more details, in particular on a possible gesture in 2023.
