Recall after ÖKO-TEST criticism: You should better keep your hands off these creams

Face creams with tinting should not only ensure well-groomed skin, but also give an even complexion. ÖKO-TEST sent a total of 20 of these products to the laboratory for a test. The conventional products and natural cosmetics also include well-known brands such as Dr. Hauschka, L’Oréal, Maybelline and Lavera.

The good news: Out of 20 products, four are rated “very good” and another three brands are “good”. Including the inexpensive natural cosmetic cream from Rossmann’s own brand Alterra for around 3.50 euros.

The bad news: Seven of the day creams tested did not pass the test with the rating “inadequate” (grade 5) or “inadequate” (grade 6). The reason for the bad rating is the critical ingredients that the lab found in the creams.

The laboratory also found Lillial in one product. The artificial fragrance is classified as a hazardous substance under the Chemicals Regulation (CLP) and is banned in EU cosmetics since March this year. The company Charlotte Meentzen has therefore stopped the sale of the affected cream Kräutervital day cream tinted (beige) and started a product recall.

If you are affected, we show you in the video above how you should react in the event of a recall.

Well-known brands fail

And it doesn’t get any better: Among the products criticized are well-known brands that are popular with many consumers. Due to the critical ingredients such as PEG/PEG derivatives, paraffins, BHT, questionable UV filters or cadmium, you should better not let the following creams come into contact with your skin:

  • Charlotte Meentzen herbal vital day cream tinted (beige)
  • L’Oréal Age Perfect Tinted Cream (02 Medium to Dark)
  • Biotherm Aquasource BB Cream SPF 15 (medium to gold)
  • Garnier Skin Active BB Cream Classic SPF 15 (light)
  • La Roche-Posay Hydreane BB Cream SPF 20 (Light)
  • Maybelline Dream Matte BB SPF 15 (light-medium)
  • Physicians Formula Super BB Cream SPF 30 (Light/Medium)
