Foreign bodies were found in a children's muesli, which can cause internal injuries if eaten. The manufacturer Milupa has issued a recall.

The children's food manufacturer Milupa has issued a recall for several products in its muesli range: Before consuming "Milupa children's cereal fruits", "Milupa Kindermüsli Bircher" and "Milupa Children's Porridge Oats & Fruits" is therefore expressly warned.

The reason for this measure is that the goods in question may contain apple stalks. If they are consumed, they could cause "health problems" such as internal injuries, for example in the mouth and / or throat, or get into the airways. In this case, a risk of suffocation cannot be ruled out.

Recall of children's cereal because of foreign bodies

"The incident is related to a batch of dried apple pieces that were used by a supplier as an ingredient in the named products," said Milupa in the current recall. Specifically, there is a risk of contamination with the following products:

  • Milupa children's muesli Bircher (Content: 400g), best before 26.10.2021, 19.12.2021, 18.01.2022
  • Milupa children's cereal fruits (Content: 400g), best before 28.12.2021
  • Milupa children's porridge oats & fruits (Content: 400g), best before 2021/10/2021, 12/01/2021, 01/16/2022

The purchase price of the products will be refunded

Anyone who has packs with this product information at home can bring them back to the drugstore or supermarket branch where they bought them. The purchase price will be refunded on site. Those affected can also contact the Milupa Parents Service on 0800 737 5000. According to the manufacturer, the affected batches were delivered to retailers from September 11, 2020 and have been on sale since then.

By now, however, they should have been removed from the shelves so that newly purchased goods are no longer dangerous. "After investigations, we are certain that no further batches of this product with a different best-before date or other Milupa products are affected," the company announced in a customer information sheet.
