Recall: Manufacturer warns against plastic in chocolate

There's another recall for chocolate. Because of possible plastic contamination, the chocolate is better not to be eaten.

Chocolate lovers have to be very strong right now: Several manufacturers had issued a recall last week. In most cases, the reason was contamination with foreign bodies – which is why the affected chocolate could no longer be eaten under any circumstances.

Recall of chocolate

Now there is another callback. The chocolate comes from the popular "Ovaltine" brand and was sold nationwide:

  • Ovaltine chocolate bar
  • Manufacturer: Wander AG
  • 100 gram bar
  • Batch number: 1328918 A and B
  • Best before date: 05/08/2021

The manufacturer advises on the website that the recall is a precautionary measure. A routine check is said to have revealed possible plastic contamination.

Possible plastic residues in the chocolate

So far, Wander AG could not have found any plastic residues in the chocolate, which is why the risk is assessed to be very low. Nevertheless, all the chocolate bars in the batch are now withdrawn – because it cannot be ruled out that there are foreign bodies in them. To be on the safe side, the chocolate should no longer be eaten. Other best-before dates or branded products should not be affected.

The Ovaltine manufacturer has published its own e-mail address for queries that customers who have already purchased the chocolate in question should contact: [email protected]

If you still have the Ovaltine chocolate in your house, you can simply return it to the store. There, customers should be reimbursed the purchase price. Alternatively, there is the option of returning the board directly to the manufacturer in Switzerland. Further information is available on the Wander AG website.
