Risk of burns
IKEA recalls dishes
IKEA issued a recall. The furniture store warns against the use of certain dishes because of the risk of burns.
We fill a cup of coffee, make a bowl of muesli and arrange our lunch or dinner on a plate: not a day goes by without using dishes. But now caution is required, because the Swedish furniture store IKEA asks customers to stop using plates, bowls and mugs from certain rows of dishes inside. The reason: There is a risk of burns.
Recall: IKEA dishes
The store is recalling two rows of dishes as a precaution. There have been reports of breakage, which is why the affected dishes should no longer be used. Specifically, these are the following products:
- Plates, bowls, mugs
- From the ranks: Heroisk and Talrika
- Manufacturer: IKEA Germany GmbH & Co. KG
The plates, bowls and mugs can break, which could cause burns if they are filled with hot food or liquids. There is also a particular risk because the “Heroisk” product series is a children’s tableware. People who have purchased the affected tableware should therefore no longer use it and should return it.
Return of the affected dishes
Customers can return the affected Heroisk and Talrika products to any IKEA store without presenting a receipt and will be reimbursed the full purchase price. But what do I do if my usual IKEA store is still closed due to the pandemic? If the branch near you is closed or only open for Click & Meet, you can still bring the dishes back at a later time.
