Recall: Popular frozen fries may contain metal splinters

The McCain brand is recalling a popular potato snack. There is a health risk. All information.

If you want it to be quick, we like to prepare frozen food. And if you have a freezer at home, you might also store a bag of frozen fries in it. The McCain company has now issued a product recall for one of their potato snacks. These are the popular “pom poms.”

Which batch is affected?

All pom poms with the product numbers “LZ 20,10,2020 14:40 – 16:00” and “LZ 21,10,2020 01:30 – 02:10” have been recalled. You can find the information on the back of the frozen goods.

Where were the pom poms in question sold?

The potato snack is sold across Germany for example at Aldi, Rewe, Netto, Edeka, Penny, Kaufland, or Marktkauf. It is not known in which federal states the pom poms with the relevant production numbers were delivered. It is therefore advisable – no matter where you live – to check the frozen food for the product number.

What can happen?

McCain announces in a customer information sheet that it cannot be ruled out that “during the production process, metallic foreign bodies could have got into the product.” The affected pom poms should therefore under no circumstances be eaten.

What can I do now?

First of all, make sure that the product is not being made by a family member. But you don’t have to throw it away either. Because customers who have bought pom poms with the relevant production number can return the food in the supermarket and get their money back. The receipt of the receipt is usually not required for product recalls. McCain has so far not given any specific information.
