There is a current recall of protective masks from the Müller drugstore. The affected products contain a highly toxic substance.
A mouth and nose cover is part of everyday life for all of us and should always be close at hand. A new recall is currently being reported, affecting protective masks that were sold by the drugstore chain Müller both online and in stationary stores.
The manufacturer Media Chain Products GmbH is recalling the protective masks that have been sold by Müller since October 30, 2020. The company cites a strong odor as the reason for the recall. It is also recommended to stop using it immediately.
Recall of protective masks: acute health hazard
Specifically, it is the 7-month protective mask "Viral Protect". Anyone who bought such a product in one of the stores should check it:

The manufacturer urgently warns against using the product, because the poisonous ingredient aniline was found in the masks during a quality check in the binding tape.
Aniline is a clear, oily liquid with a peculiar smell and is used in the manufacture of plastics and paints. It is a powerful blood poison that prevents oxygen from being transported in the blood. It can be absorbed through swallowing, inhalation and through the skin.
A weak concentration of the substance can turn the skin and fingernails blue, cause dizziness and excitement. If aniline is more concentrated, headache, dizziness, impaired consciousness and shortness of breath occur. Difficulty breathing in particular can be life-threatening. Long-term contact with the poison can lead to weakness, loss of appetite and even bladder cancer.
Anyone who has bought an affected product can return it to any Müller branch without presenting the receipt and the purchase price will be refunded.
