There is a recall of bottled water. The water should not be drunk, it could contain broken glass.

Anyone who always has a supply of mineral water in the house should now be careful: A manufacturer has issued a recall for water in reusable glass bottles for preventive consumer protection. According to the company’s own statement, a batch of the “Eifel-Quelle” brand could contain glass splinters and glass grit, so the mineral water concerned should no longer be drunk!

Recall of mineral water

Specifically, the following product is affected by the recall:

  • EIFEL source Classic
  • Natural mineral water
  • 12 x 0.75 liters in the returnable glass bottle
  • Best before date: 02/09/2024
  • In the period from 1 p.m. to 4.40 p.m.

The company Eifel-Quelle GmbH from Heilbrunnen initially published the recall as a customer notice on its website. In the meantime, the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety has also issued a warning on the “Lebensmittelwarnung.de” portal about mineral water.

Shards of glass in the bottles

The mineral water is said to have been sold in the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate. As a rule, the bottles are sold in crates.

The manufacturer cited “glass grit”, or glass splinters or fragments that the bottle may contain, as the reason for the recall. To be on the safe side, the water should no longer be drunk.

The affected batch should already have been taken off the market after the recall. If you still have the mineral water in the house, you can bring it back to the appropriate sales point. There, customers should usually be reimbursed the purchase price without presenting the receipt. Other products should not be affected so far.
