There’s a recall for cosmetics. Glass fragments were found in a cream.

It is supposed to care for us, instead it could hurt us now: A recall for cosmetics has been issued. Glass splinters were found in two jars of a cream, which is why the batch in question is now being recalled.

Body Butter recalled

The consumer magazine “Öko-Test” warns of a recall from “Weleda”. Specifically, the following product should be affected:

  • Name: “Skin Food Body Butter”
  • Intensive nourishing body care
  • Dry to very dry skin
  • Manufacturer: Weleda AG
  • Batch: G0613

The product was sold in glass jars and has green packaging. It should contain the information about the cream, only the batch number is on the bottom of the jar.

Glass splinters can cause injuries

After two creams showed glass splinters on the bottom, Weleda AG decided to completely recall the batch. It cannot be ruled out that other vessels in the series are affected. The body butter should no longer be used, as the splinters contained could injure you.

How the glass splinters got into the cream is unclear, the affected vessels are said to have been externally undamaged. Since damage cannot always be seen with the naked eye, you should not continue to use the body butter even if there are no visible splinters.

Customers who already have the Skin Food Body Butter of the affected batch at home can bring it back to the relevant shop. To do this, they are also called up when the vessel is already open. On site, they should be reimbursed the full purchase price for the product even without presenting a receipt. Weleda has also published the customer service telephone number for queries: 07171-9190.
