A recall has been issued for rolls. Several grades are affected, which may contain metal fragments.

Most people had a small supply for the corona pandemic. After all, we try to reduce shopping to a minimum – and not have to go out every day. If a recall is issued, however, more caution is currently required. Especially when it comes to staple foods like bread.

Recall of rolls because of metal splinters

The Sternenbäck GmbH is currently informing about a major recall of several types of bread rolls. The products should expressly not be eaten, as they could be contaminated with a "metallic foreign body". The following rolls are specifically affected by the recall:

  • Sternenbäck® Kaiser rolls
  • Sternenbäck® double rolls
  • Sternenbäck® multigrain rolls
  • Sternenbäck® wholemeal rolls
  • Sternenbäck® round potato rolls
  • Sternenbäck® rolls
  • Sternenbäck® party rolls
  • Sternenbäck® raisin rolls
  • Purchase date up to and including January 21, 2021

The rolls were sold in the federal states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. In Baden-Württemberg, according to the manufacturer, the recall only applies to the variety "Sternenbäck Kaiserbrötchen".

All affected batches are said to have already been taken off the market, assures the Sternenbäck GmbH on their website. Also, all other products and those that have been sold from January 22nd should expressly not be affected by the recall and should be safe to eat.

How the metallic foreign bodies got into the buns is unclear. Consumption should be avoided for health reasons. Those who already have the rolls in the house can return them to appropriate shops. Customers should of course be reimbursed the purchase price there even without submitting the receipt.
