“We won the second round of the presidential election with the support of our people”, welcomed Recep Tayyip Erdogan, shortly after 8 p.m., Sunday, May 28. The outgoing president won 52.13% of the vote in the second round which pitted him against Kemal Kiliçdaroglu.
The outgoing president took the floor on the roof of a bus parked outside his Istanbul residence, in front of a crowd of supporters. “Our nation has entrusted us with the responsibility of governing the country for the next five years”did he declare.
