recipients of the adult disability allowance excluded from the system

Despite a recurring demand that dates back several years, AAH recipients do not have the possibility of receiving the exceptional Christmas aid, paid each year by the government.

The 2022 Christmas bonus will be paid to more than 2 million households on December 15. If the beneficiaries of the CAF, the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) and the unemployed will be credited with a minimum aid of 152.45 euros for a single person, recipients of the disabled adult allowance (AAH) will still not be entitled to it in 2022 despite a recurring demand that dates back several years. Contact this week, the Minister of Solidarity did not justify this decision to MoneyVox.

The Christmas bonus can reach 442.10 euros for a couple with 4 children plus 60.98 euros per additional person.

In 2021, a petition signed by 22,000 people had been addressed to Emmanuel Macron and Sophie Cluzel, Secretary of State for Disabilities. Then the socialist deputy Ccile Untermaier had questioned the minister responsible for disabled people on this subject, who replied in February 2022: The Christmas bonus is an aid paid to the beneficiaries of certain social minima. (…) Beneficiaries of the solidarity allowance for the elderly and the allowance for disabled adults are not affected due to the amount of this benefit, which is much higher than the target benefits. Clearly, at the beginning of 2022, the government of Jean Castex justified the absence of a Christmas bonus for beneficiaries of the AAH by the higher amount of this allowance compared to the active solidarity income (RSA) or compared to the amount of the specific solidarity allowance (ASS). In more than 20 years of existence of the Christmas bonus, the beneficiaries of the AAH have never benefited from it.

In 2022, according to several players in the sector, it is indeed the revaluation of the AAH 956.65 euros per month which explains this persistent choice not to extend the Christmas bonus to beneficiaries of the allowance for disabled adults. The AAH was 919.86 euros at the start of the year, before being revalues this t by 4% such as the RSA or the activity bonus in order to compensate for soaring inflation.

This is very, very bad news for people with disabilities who are still not entitled to it!, reacts a reader of MoneyVox, annoyed. Don’t they deserve national solidarity? Are they on purpose, or pretending to be handicapped? What reasons do our decision-makers have to justify this dismissal, of the most fragile of all, of an aid that would nevertheless put some balm in their hearts? In 2022, withdrawals are also excluded from this system.
