BVB will probably bring 16-year-olds for a sum of millions

After the Ryerson commitment, BVB is apparently wrapping up the next transfer. 16-year-old Julien Duranville is moving to Dortmund from RSC Anderlecht. The transfer fee makes you sit up and take notice.

Borussia Dortmund has apparently made its second winter transfer perfect. According to the “Ruhr Nachrichten”, Julien Duranville completed the medical check at BVB and is expected to sign a contract with Borussia on the same day. Several media had previously reported that the transfer of the 16-year-old was on the home straight.

Duranville is to sign a three-year contract in Dortmund with an option for a follow-up contract. For players under the age of 18, contracts can be a maximum of three years. The fifth in the table apparently transfers a transfer fee of 8.5 million euros to RSC Anderlecht for Duranville’s services. That would make Duranville the most expensive signing for an under-18 in BVB club history. Bonus payments can also increase the sum to up to eleven million euros. The transfer is to be officially announced on Thursday.

“He is an agile and tricky player. We see his potential, but he has just come out of an injury and will certainly need some time to work his way up,” Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl told the “Ruhr Nachrichten”. Duranville sustained a muscle tear in December.

Dortmund apparently outperforms well-known competition

Duranville was under contract in Belgium until the summer of 2024. The teenager is said to have refused an early extension of the contract, which is why Anderlecht was open to selling the talent. In addition to Dortmund, FC Bayern and Real Madrid were said to be interested in Duranville.

The 16-year-old can be used as a winger on both offensive flanks. For Anderlecht he scored one goal in six matches in the 1st league this season. The attacker made his debut for the Belgian first division club in the 2021/2022 season. Duranville has also been used in youth selections for the Belgian national team since 2021. In the U16s he scored two goals in twelve games, and the youngster failed to score in two appearances for the Belgium U19s.

Dortmund had already signed Julian Ryerson last week. The 25-year-old switched from Union Berlin to BVB for a transfer fee of five million euros. The Norwegian played straight through against Mainz 05 and FC Augsburg and even scored the equalizer for Borussia in the 2-1 win in Mainz.
