London (awp / dpa) – British luxury car maker Rolls-Royce posted a record sales vintage in 2021, unlike the entire automotive sector which has had a black year between pandemic and semi shortage. -conductors.
The brand, which belongs to the German group BMW, saw its sales jump by nearly 50% to 5,586 cars, a historic record.
Demand was particularly stimulated by the new “Ghost” coupe and the Cullinan 4×4 SUV at 350,000 euros.
“2021 has been a phenomenal year for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars,” said executive director Torsten Muller-Otvos in a statement.
Rolls-Royce, founded at the start of the 20th century and acquired by BMW in 1998, is preparing at the same time the launch of Specter, its first all-electric vehicle.
The figures published by Rolls-Royce contrast with the rest of the automotive market: the sector has experienced two black years in 2020 and 2021, especially in the United Kingdom and Germany, because of the pandemic and months of closure of dealers, then a global semiconductor shortage that has plunged production.
