Red alert on WhatsApp: Messenger gives the all-clear – one question remains unanswered

Update April 29 9:26 am Although we still have a few problem reports in our WhatsApp fault report, the major disruption that paralyzed the messenger for almost an hour and a half on Thursday evening seems to have been resolved. WhatsApp itself said in a statement on Twitter that the problem had been identified and resolved.

Dark red is the color of our fault indicator for WhatsApp. This indicates a serious disruption affecting thousands of people. And indeed: if you take a closer look, large parts of Europe are apparently affected by a WhatsApp failure:

On our editorial devices, sending and receiving messages with WhatApp initially worked perfectly, but it is no longer possible to establish a connection. So the problem seems to be getting worse.

According to our research, iPhone users are particularly affected. Messages are sent with a delay on Android phones, but still arrive. We will keep you informed of further developments.
