Red is history, the carpet shines in “champagne”
No more red carpet at the Oscars: Champagne will be the color of this year’s awards.

At the Oscars, the prominent guests will not walk across a red carpet. Instead, he shines in “Champagne”.
For the first time since 1961, in more than six decades, the red carpet will not be rolled out at Hollywood’s Oscars. The famous floor covering, on which the stars show off their elegant and edgy fashion, will instead be in the color “champagne” this year. However, curtains and other scenery elements will continue to glow in the signal color red.
Moderator Jimmy Kimmel joked
Dozens of camera teams and press representatives from all over the world followed the traditional rolling out of the carpet on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Dolby Theater on Wednesday (local time). Moderator Jimmy Kimmel (55) was present at the unveiling and commented on the change with reference to last year’s slap scandal:
“I think we can use a champagne carpet instead of a red carpet because we’re sure there won’t be any bloodshed,” Kimmel said.
The Oscar ceremony will take place on March 12. Due to the time difference, it can be seen in Germany on the night of March 13, from around 1 a.m. in the morning.
