Red vigilance in Béarn: the prefecture advises against bringing children to school in the Aspe and Ossau valleys

After the suspension of trains between Oloron and Bedous, the prefecture of Pyrénées-Atlantiques decided this Sunday evening to take new precautions in the face of heavy rains expected Monday January 10 in the department. Since Sunday afternoon, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques have been placed in red vigilance for the risks of floods. In the evening, red vigilance was also triggered for rain-flood risks.

“In view of the weather forecast in the valleys of Aspe, Ossau and in the Tardets sector, travel must be limited to the strict minimum,” explains the administration in a press release. Therefore, parents are not advised to bring their children to the colleges of Bedous, Arette, Arudy, Laruns and Tardets as well as to the sector schools of these colleges ”Monday January 10.

With this in mind, school transport to these schools is canceled. Same measure concerning transport to the lycées of Pau, Mauléon and Oloron-Sainte-Marie. The Prefect ensures that parents will be informed by SMS by the authorities organizing the transport.

Minimal welcome

“Nevertheless, in order to ensure a minimum reception for the pupils who would however go to these establishments by their own means (colleges of Bedous, Arette, Arudy, Laruns and Tardets, and schools of these sectors), the latter remain open. Teaching and administrative staff will be present. “
