To expand to the French market, the American platform Reddit is launching a new feature.
The Reddit platform, which could be defined as the final form of the forums that constituted a large part of the content available on the Internet 15 years ago, really wants to go beyond American borders. France, particularly targeted, will soon see a new feature centered on press articles. Enough to end the hegemony of English in the content created there?

If Reddit has been available in France for years, rare are the subreddits really dedicated to French speakers, except for r/France. The vast majority of content is therefore only available in English. As proof, of the 54 million daily users claimed by the platform, at least half come from the United States.
If these figures remain far behind Facebook, Instagram, or even Twitter, they remain important enough for the company to present itself as the ” front page of internet », and prepares its IPO. A decision that pushes Reddit to want to develop outside of North America, and the French are a prime target. Indeed, the latter are still very active there, as the “Pixel War” had been able to demonstrate.
To attract even more, the American company is creating a specific feature for France. This is a tab that will act as an aggregator of press articles in French. In association with Le Figaro, the platform will therefore create a curation team specifically for this purpose, to finally see French-speaking content develop there. Will this be enough to attract those who do not speak English, and therefore cannot enjoy the mass of varied content found on Reddit?
