Redfall: a PS5 version was planned, but Microsoft canceled it

In a few weeks a new exclusive will be released Xboxnamely Redfalla title developed by Arkane Austin and edited by Bethesdawhich now belongs to Microsoft. The game will therefore only be released on PC and Xbox Series X|S, but before the takeover of Bethesda by Microsoft, it was also expected on PlayStation 5.

This is revealed by the creative director of the game, Harvey Smith, interviewed by IGN. He thus reveals that red fall was originally developed on all platforms, but following the takeover, Microsoft had the PS5 version canceled :

We were acquired by Microsoft and it was a change with a capital C. They came in and said, ‘No PlayStation 5, we’re focusing on Xbox, PC and Game Pass.’

It’s not very serious, it’s even a good decision, I think. [Cela permet de] support Game Pass and have one less platform to worry about, one less complexity.

Game Pass has a ton of players, it could become our biggest game thanks to 30 million, where I can’t remember the exact number, of subscribers.

This is likely to make gamers cringe playstationeven if the decision of Microsoft is fair game. And above all, it obviously does not bother Arkane Austin which was able to focus on just two versions of the game, and the studio relies heavily on the Game Pass to make Redfall a success. The title is expected on May 2 on PC and Xbox Series X | S, you can pre-order it at €62.99 on Amazon.
