Thanks to a conference held last week on its land, Xiaomi announced its Redmi Book Pro 2022 Ryzen Edition. Now available in China, the laptop bets on the Ryzen 6000 “Rembrandt” chips and on a contained price to convince.

This new Redmi Book Pro Ryzen Edition still comes in two versions of 14 and 15.6 inches. It also uses the same technical data sheet, or almost, as the 2022 model launched earlier this year with Intel processors of 12e generation.

The large model includes a 3.2K IPS screen, 100% sRGB and 400 nits, which can go up to 90 Hz, and an AMD Ryzen 5 6600H or Ryzen 7 6800H chip to which you can optionally add a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce graphics card RTX 2050.

Not as fast as the RTX 3000, this entry-level chip (under Ampère architecture) has been available since the beginning of the year and is intended mainly for casual gaming or software supporting GPU acceleration. According to the benchmarks, however, it manages to develop a higher level of performance than the GTX 1650… while managing (timidly) ray tracing and DLSS.

The 14-inch version of the Redmi Book Pro 2022 Ryzen Edition can ship the same processors as its big brother, but is equipped for its part with a 2.5 K panel rising to 120 Hz. The two models ship for the rest the same connectors (2 USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, 1 USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port, 1 HDMI 2.0 output, an SD UHS II reader and a headphone jack) and can both count on a maximum of 16 GB of RAM (6400 MHz LPDDR5) and 512 GB of storage.

An attractive price

Xiaomi also insists on the presence of a dissipation system comprising three heat pipes and two fans to keep the latest AMD chips cool. The CNC machined aluminum chassis does not exceed 14.9 mm for 1.8 kg on the 15-inch model. The device therefore remains compact. Finally, it is powered by a 72 Wh battery, which could however prove to be a bit tight.

On the price side, the 14-inch model is offered from 4,499 yuan in the Ryzen 5 version and 5,099 yuan for the Ryzen 7 model (i.e. between 626 and 710 euros excluding tax). The 15.6-inch model is available for its part between 4699 and 6499 yuan depending on the configuration chosen (i.e. between 654 and 904 euros excluding tax). It is unknown for the moment if these new models will arrive in France.
