This Thursday, Xiaomi announced the arrival in France of its new range of Redmi smartphones, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11, Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S and Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro. However, the Chinese firm did not stop there and took advantage of the announcement to launch a new pair of wireless headphones in Europe, the Xiaomi Redmi Buds 3.

These new headphones seem to want to respond directly to Apple’s AirPods 3 with a fairly similar design. We thus find the stem at the bottom of the headphones directing the microphone towards the mouth of the user, but also open headphones. No trace of in-ear tips here – unlike the Redmi Buds 3 Pro – the Redmi Buds 3 are open headphones which therefore fit at the entrance, but not inside the ear canal.

In terms of features, the new Redmi Buds 3 each weigh 4.5 grams. The headphones are also IP54 certified and therefore splashproof and dustproof. They are equipped with a small touch surface at the level of the stem allowing to control the reading or to answer calls. The headphones do not come with an app to use their headphones on smartphones from other manufacturers and, as with the Redmi Buds 3 Pro, they will necessarily have to be used with a Xiaomi smartphone to have full control over their settings, such as an equalizer.

Large 12mm drivers

Regarding audio transmission, the Redmi Buds 3 are compatible with Bluetooth 5.2 and the AAC and SBC codecs. If Xiaomi indicates that its headphones are equipped with a Qualcomm chip, they are not compatible with the aptX codec of the American equipment manufacturer. For sound reproduction, 12mm transducers were chosen by Xiaomi.

While the headphones offer neither passive isolation nor active noise reduction during listening, the Redmi Buds 3 nevertheless benefit from noise cancellation during calls, so that your interlocutor is not disturbed by the noises around you and can focus on your voice.

The Xiaomi Redmi Buds 3 enjoy a battery life of 5 hours with the headphones alone and up to 20 hours using the charging case. The firm also specifies that 10 minutes of charging allows you to enjoy 1h30 of listening.

the Xiaomi Redmi Buds 3 are already available, only in white. For the launch, they are offered at a price of 39.99 euros, but should subsequently be offered at 49.99 euros.
