With a view to making Facebook and Instagram even more complementary, the Meta group has just announced that Reels will now be published simultaneously on both platforms.

A few weeks ago, Instagram expressed its desire to bet more on videos than on photos. Today, Meta is once again confirming this desire by giving greater importance to its Reels…

Instagram Reels can be simultaneously published on Facebook

Faced with TikTok’s obvious hold on the video field, the Meta group has no choice but to redouble its efforts and imagination to try to compete with its Chinese competitor. According to a recent study published by Pew Research, it seems that 16% of American teenagers regularly use TikTok, compared to 10% for Instagram and only 2% for Facebook. In an attempt to reduce this gap which separates TikTok from its own platforms as well as possible, Meta wants to further widen the gateways between Facebook and Instagram.

If the connections between the two social networks obviously do not date from today, they will however intensify more in the coming weeks. Indeed, it will soon be possible to publish Reels from Instagram to Facebook at the push of a button. With this functionality, Meta actually wants to offer content creators a new way to increase their audience, with the possibility of monetizing their content on both platforms.

At the beginning of the year, when Instagram Reels landed on Facebook, we learned that the video format alone represented 50% of the time spent by users, both on Facebook and on Instagram. We also learned that the “Reel” format was the fastest growing format. We will now only have to observe if the arrival of this new feature will manage to generate more engagement on both platforms.
