After the tragedy which took place in Nanterre on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a teenager after a refusal to comply with the police, political reactions are not long in coming. The left has also seized on the case to directly attack the police and their operation.

Only a few hours after the death of young Nahel, killed by police during a refusal to comply in Nanterre, the left was already beginning to make political demands concerning the affair. Starting with Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who last night reacted on the YouTube channel of La France insoumise. “This situation has all the characteristics of what we hate: an abuse of power, a refusal to comply which results in a death sentence. Whatever the situation, there is no justification for killing someone”, affirmed the founder of France Insoumise.

The latter goes even further and believes that “the police must be completely overhauled”. Within the National Assembly also, the parliamentarians of the Nupes wasted no time in seizing on this tragedy. Green MP Sabrina Sebaihi arrested Gérald Darmanin a few hours after the death of the teenager. “Mr. Minister, I would like to ask you a question. Why, in our Republic, the refusal to comply can be punishable by a bullet in the chest or in the head?”, She insisted before asking , “In which case, could you tell us who, among our population, is subject to this exceptional law?”
