Refusal to comply: Saturday’s scene was filmed, according to the lawyer for the three police officers

The lawyer pleads self-defense for his three clients and ensures that the elements present in the video support this theory.

The lawyer for the three police officers in police custody, Laurent-Franck Liénard, told BFMTV that there was a video relating the events of Saturday June 4. During a chase after a refusal to comply, the police opened fire, causing the death of the passenger and injuring the driver.

According to Laurent-Franck Liénard, the scene “was filmed“, he himself viewed it in the context of police custody. The shots by the police would have beentotally simultaneous“, explains the lawyer, supporting his theory of self-defense, “the three people, in different positions, all felt the danger of the car’s maneuver and the urgency to react“. He estimates that eight to nine cartridges were fired at the time. The police officers, aged between 25 and 30,are not known for acts of violence“.

His clients felt that if they hadn’t fired, “there would have been serious injuries or even deaths in our ranks anyway“, underlines Me Laurent-Franck Liénard.

Two open investigations

According to the lawyer, the three police officers surrounded the car:one was on the left side, another was in front and another policeman was on the right of the vehicle“. The driver, who was trying to escape a control, would have tried to turn his vehicle against the police.

Ibrahima, one of the vehicle’s passengers, was questioned about his version of the facts by RTL: “We were at a red light and a policeman came and tapped on the driver’s window to ask him to step aside for a check.“. He admits that his friendprogressed a bitinstead of stopping, but said he was shocked by the shots in “girl’s head“. The young woman died of her injuries on Sunday. During the day, the police officers were placed in police custody and the Paris prosecutor’s office opened two investigations, one targeting them and the second concerning the driver.

The 38-year-old man is known to police. He has 80 entries in the criminal record processing file. According to BFMTV, he was only free for the weekend, last Saturday. Serving a prison sentence since April 14, he would have benefited from a leave of absence.
