Régine: what did the famous singer’s son die at 58?

Died today at the age of 92, Régine herself had never recovered from the death of her son, Lionel Rotcage. What did the 58-year-old journalist and son of the Queen of the Night die of in 2006?

This Sunday 1er may, the queen of the night is goneand hung up his clothes of light. Left at 92Régine had a wonderfully good life, happy, festive but also forever touched by a family tragedy.

In 2006, when the singer was 88, her son, journalist Lionel Rotcage, died following alung cancer. He was 58and since his departure has installed an immeasurable void in the heart of his mother.

“We didn’t get along all the time, but we loved each other a lot.”

In an interview given to france sunday on November 30, 2018, Régine returned to the tragedy of her life: I lost my only son twelve years ago and I will never get over it. Lionel was a journalist and businessman, he died at the age of 58 from lung cancer, she told our colleagues. He suffered enormously from having to share me. We didn’t get along all the time, but we loved each other a lot.” she confided with emotion.

His son was the father of Daphne, granddaughter of Regine, therefore. At his 30th birthday, she gave birth to a baby boy named Leo. The Queen of the Night was crazy about it, and did not fail to express her love for her grandson: Leo is my new love. He is 1 and a half years old and can’t stop dancing. It is an explosive mixture of Irish, Scottish and Polish blood. He is also the grandson of John Boorman, director of Excalibur. So I think this little one will be a genius.” she had explained.

Now alongside her son, Régine will light up the sky a little more with her precious disco ball and her legendary good humor. Farewell, Madame Régine, and bon voyage.
